A message from our Festival Director
Thank you for your interest in our Festival. This year we are adding a “new” dimension to the Festival. We’ve added four Seminars with some of the hottest champions of Sport Karate sharing their experience and winning knowledge. Headlining this year’s seminars is World Champion, Justin Ortiz. A member of John Paul Mitchell Karate since 2013. Justin is one of the best Sport Karate fighters to come out of Florida in recent years. He’s won every major US Tournaments and is currently winning the European as well as other International titles.
The Festival is also proud to present Ms. Jewelianna Ramos, one of the freshest new stars on the national circuits Ms Ramos is tearing it up on the NASKA circuit most recently winning Black belt Forms Division at the Battle of Atlanta. Jewelianna won the 2016 Pan Americans, AKA Warrior Cup and our own 2016 27th State Martial Arts Festival.
Rashad Eugene, known for his “double bow” extreme weapons forms, Mr. Eugine is a member of DKS Professional Karate Team. He is a 27th State Martial Arts Festival.
Marielys Concepcion, is one of the best female fighters to come out of South Florida. She is a FBBA-X and NASKA champion.
Another “new” facet to the Festival is our partnering with GOTMA, Inc ., (Gaining Opportunity through Martial Arts.) This non-profit organization provides sponsorships for underprivileged and special needs students to be able to take advantage of the opportunities and benefits of the Martial Arts. It also helps competition and Demonstration Teams to promote the benefits of the Martial Arts. Last year’s Gladiator Challenge II proved to be one of the best competitions in the 2016 FBBA-X circuit. This year’s Gladiator Challenge III promises to be even more exciting. You won’t want to miss the area’s top Black Belt Competitors compete for our now World Famous Grand Champion Trophy!
This year’s competition will once again be under the Direction of Sr. Professor Manny Reyes, Sr., a 10th degree Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate and promoter of the Pan American Internationals, a 6A NASKA World Tour Event. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the North American Sport Karate Association (NASKA.)
Grand-master Hector Rodriguez is the Director of Competition and coordinates our Saturday Evening Showcase of Champions. He has promoted Martial Arts Events for over 20 years. He is the owner of American Pride Martial Arts. Competition Grand Master Rodregous is a member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Black Belt Association, Extreme. Originally born in Puerto Rico, He has trained in Martial Arts for over 36 years. He is currently a 6th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do(Jhoon Rhee), 7th Degree in Ju Jitsu (Jedan Ryu), 5th Degree in Atemi- Ryu Karate(Soke Joseph Williams ), and 4th Degree Haemukwan Hapkido (Gary Pointer). He is a Certified Instructor in Arnis by Greg Allan (Kali Silat Society). He also has extensive training in Shotokan, Goju-Ryu, Kick Boxing, and Kobudo. Grand-master Rodriguez has been operating Martial Arts Schools for the last 30 years and teaching for 35 years. Grand-master Rodriguez served in the US Army for 4 years in Active Duty, where he participated in Desert Storm 1991, was deployed to Somalia and Bosnia, and also participated in Operation Bright Star Egypt 1992. He joined the Florida National Guard where he received his commission as 2nd Lieutenant. He served for 12 years and achieved the rank of Captain.
